Meet James Panos

Dear friends,

I am deeply honored to introduce the Panos Foundation, a non-profit research organization that was born out of my personal journey with cancer. My name is James Panos, and in 2023, I established this foundation with an unwavering commitment to education, research, and making a lasting impact in the fight against cancer.

My own battle with cancer began in 2020, just after I had graduated from DePaul University, where I pursued my studies at the esteemed Driehaus School of Business. Growing up, I had a passion for hockey, and I spent countless hours on the ice as part of the Glenview Stars. This love for the sport continued as I played at the high school level, progressed to juniors, and eventually had the privilege of representing DePaul University from 2017 to 2020. However, during my final season, I started experiencing excruciating back pains that signaled something was amiss. I thought that my body was just sort of breaking down over the years and this was normal.

In November of 2020, shortly after completing my studies, I received the life-altering news that I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. The journey that followed was filled with surgeries, extensive chemotherapy treatments, and numerous challenges. Throughout 2020 and 2021, I underwent two surgeries and endured 85 days of various chemotherapy regimens.

Today, I am grateful to share that I am in remission. This experience has profoundly impacted my life, igniting within me an unyielding determination to give back and ensure that no one has to face the same trials and tribulations alone. I believe that sharing our stories, supporting one another, and advancing research and education are vital steps towards creating a brighter future for all those affected by cancer.

With the support of an incredible team, I have founded the Panos Foundation to serve as a platform for change, progress, and hope. At the Panos Foundation, we are committed to providing education, resources, and support to those affected by cancer.

We recognize the pivotal role that research plays in driving advancements and improving patient outcomes. By collaborating with experts in the field, advocating for change, and creating opportunities for individuals to share their stories, we aim to make a profound impact in the lives of others.

Our journey is just beginning, and we invite you to join us on this mission. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can create a world where no one has to face the hardships of cancer alone. I am immensely grateful for your support, and I look forward to the incredible transformations we will achieve together.
